Hi, and welcome back. There’s been some delay of this newsletter with some computer glitches at my end, so please accept my apologies and I hope you enjoy it.

Over the summer break, Geoff & I took a trip to New Zealand for some time
out. While we were there, we thought what better way to spend our time
than to go to a thermal spa. Off we went in our hire car to Waiwera
Infinity Thermal Spa. We enjoyed a luxurious massage each and kicked back the rest of the day in the hot pools (oh, and of course had some fun on the slides).
Here I am in water at 48degrees, proving that I can stick it out when
Things get heated!

Well, now that the long summer holidays have come to an end, and School is Back in motion for 2009. How are you feeling? Excited, Sad, Relieved?
My boy Josiah, started Preschool today. He was so excited, we ran along
the side of the road toward the preschool, from the shop around the
corner. I felt absolutely blessed to be holding his little hand and
running with him. Daddy ran along in-front of us, taking happy snaps of
his beaming face. I’ll have to pop one on a blog for you in the next
couple of days – Daddy has taken off with that camera for today.
Some kids are facing big changes this week… Some 5yr olds starting “Big School” for the very first time, others moving from Primary to Highschool.
No matter what phase your children are at this year, there will be lots
of emotions going on in their little bodies. Please make the time this
afternoon & every afternoon, to allow them to share with you what went on during their day. What may seem very unimportant events to you, may be an incredible opportunity for you to show that you are available to them when they need you.
You’ll be glad later on, that you sat down, gave them eye to eye contact
and an open window to communicate. Who knows what that could mean to them?
Lisa McInnes Smith Came to Town!

What an amazing Woman! Lisa McInnes Smith was our guest speaker at a recent Women’s Event at Lifeworx Tweed Heads.
Lisa was raised in a family of Sporting Professionals, through her teen
years her two brothers played the International Tennis Circuit, and her
Father has always been, and still is, at the top level of seniors in
Australia, all through those early years she was determined to understand
why some people succeed while others do not.
This determination inspired her to pursue Tertiary Education, specializing
in Sports Psychology and Human Performance.
Successful in her career pursuits, this special lady felt a call on her
life to make time in her busy corporate life to get serious about helping
improve the lives of others. Always committed to goal setting and
achievement, she developed a simple and effective process of performing at
her own peak level. Her first goal to directly help others was the
development of a cassette recording to help her friends, and the children
of her parents’ friends, to set and achieve goals.
Being a lady of few words, this message of encouragement and achievement
quickly became two cassettes, and an 80 page workbook! As is so often the
case when you set your eyes firmly on a goal of helping others, you are
the one most blessed. Through a series of wonderful opportunities, this
goal setting program quickly became a National best-seller. This program
could very well be the most widely used goal-setting and inspirational
program of its type in Australia today. ‘Why Wasn’t I Told?” is the rather
appropriate name for her program, and life for this special lady has taken
an exciting new direction since she became a best-selling author.
In a relatively short time, Lisa Mclnnes-Smith has become one of
Australia’s most loved conference keynote speakers. Right from the time
that first program became available to the public, Lisa has accepted many
invitations to speak to a wide range of audiences, including Boards of
Directors, Sales Teams, Executive Managers, Service Providers,
Entrepreneurs and Young Achievers.
Lisa’s commitment to helping others remains steadfast. She set herself
what others thought to be a rather optimistic goal to positively influence
one million Australian young people. Through her achievement of this goal,
Lisa has written another six books, five of which are best-sellers. She
has also had great opportunity to perfect her gift of communication from
the platform. No matter if the audience is 20 or 20,000 each person will
feel that Lisa is presenting especially to them.

For a bit of fun today, I bring you a letter that a 98 year old woman in the UK wrote to her bank. The bank manager thought it amusing enough to have it published in the Times, and now I share it with you...

Dear Sir,
I am writing to thank you for bouncing my cheque with which I endeavored
to pay my plumber last month. By my calculations, three nanoseconds must
have elapsed between his presenting the cheque and the arrival in my
account of the funds needed to honor it. I refer, of course, to the
automatic monthly deposit of my Pension, an arrangement, which, I admit,
has been in place for only thirty eight years. You are to be commended
for seizing that brief window of opportunity, and also for debiting my
account £30 by way of penalty for the inconvenience caused to your bank.
My thankfulness springs from the manner in which this incident has caused
me to rethink my errant financial ways. I noticed that whereas I
personally attend to your telephone calls and letters, when I try to
contact you, I am confronted by the impersonal, overcharging, pre-
recorded, faceless entity which your bank has become. From now on, I,
like you, choose only to deal with a flesh-and-blood person.
My mortgage and loan payments will therefore and hereafter no longer be
automatic, but will arrive at your bank by cheque, addressed personally
and confidentially to an employee at your bank whom you must nominate. Be
aware that it is an offence under the Postal Act for any other person to
open such an envelope. Please find attached an Application Contact Status
which I require your chosen employee to complete. I am sorry it runs to
eight pages, but in order that I know as much about him or her as your
bank knows about me, there is no alternative. Please note that all copies
of his or her medical history must be countersigned by a Solicitor, and
the mandatory details of his/her financial situation (income, debts,
assets and liabilities) must be accompanied by documented proof.
In due course, I will issue your employee with PIN number which he/she
must quote in dealings with me. I regret that it cannot be shorter than
28 digits but, again, I have modeled it on the number of button presses
required of me to access my account balance on your phone bank service.
As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
Let me level the playing field even further. When you call me, press
buttons as follows:
1. To make an appointment to see me.
2. To query a missing payment.
3. To transfer the call to my living room in case I am there.
4. To transfer the call to my bedroom in case I am sleeping.
5. To transfer the call to my toilet in case I am attending to
nature.
6. To transfer the call to my mobile phone if I am not at home.
7. To leave a message on my computer (a password to access my
computer is required. A password will be communicated to you at a later
date to the Authorized Contact.)
8. To return to the main menu and to listen to options 1 through
to 8.
9. To make a general complaint or inquiry, the contact will
then be put on hold, pending the attention of my automated answering
service. While this may, on occasion, involve a lengthy wait, uplifting
music will play for the duration of the call.
Regrettably, but again following your example, I must also levy an
establishment fee to cover the setting up of this new arrangement.
May I wish you a happy, if ever so slightly less prosperous, New Year.
