My Personal Update

Have you ever set a date for a project to be complete, only to be let down by others and have your hard work and excitement somewhat crushed by extended due dates???   Right now, you should be seeing my new look website.... obviously, the changes are not yet complete in my back end system.

It can be tough dealing with outsourcing delays, but there is a way to change things.

Obviously we can’t control everything, right?... so when I say change things, you should not try to manipulate results.  You can however give yourself a list of action steps to complete which drive you in the direction of your goal, and celebrate when you have done your very best.

Here’s where the “set and forget” goal setting and visualisation technique is really powerful, and freeing.

Allowing results to be as they are, gives you the freedom to work hard, and relax, knowing that whatever challenges come, we’ve done our bit.  It is only when we try to manipulate results that stress consumes us.

So when looking at your Goals and New Years Resolutions, go through and break your end result down into manageable, bite sized Action Steps.  In the meantime.  I will do what I can to have my very exciting website design ready for our next newsletter...

Success Tip

This weeks Success tip comes straight from our new book

"Monkey See MONKEY Don't!"

If you've ever flown in an aeroplane, you'll remember the safety instructions recited prior to take off.  The instructions include how to fit an oxygen mask if the air cabin pressure drops - and specifically that you must fit your own mask before you can help others.

This seems reasonable - except if you are a parent, in which case your natural instinct is to make sure your child is safe first.  However, you have about ten seconds to fit your own mask before oxygen deprivation will cause you to pass out, rendering you completely useless to yourself and others.  So, by taking care of yourself first, you are able to take care of those around you.  Without your oxygen mask on, you're not going to be useful to anyone.

Anyone serious about self-coaching understands they must take an "inside-out" approach to their lives.  Rather than focusing on the possessions, successes and approvals that may make us happy (but most probably won't), we must look within and find what deeply motivates us.

Is it your family?  Is it a challenge?  Adventure?  Love?  A desire to help others?  Only you know the answer, but whatever it is, it means moving beyond hoping things will improve (once you get the new job, new house or new partner) and taking action yourself.  Just like any journey into unfamiliar territory, you need to chart a course before you can begin moving forward.
